    Exchange Home Lab

    Hello All,

I am trying to set up a home exchange 2010 lab and run into some hurdles that I am unsure of. I have a 2008R2 server configured as a domain controller running on vmware workstation. I also have exchange 2010 installed as a trial. Now where I'm getting stuck is the network part of it, I want to be able to send/receive mail externally and I know I have to configure send/receive connectors.

The problem is, this may seem like a stupid question but how would I configure DNS, Domain Name etc, MX records etc? If I don't buy a domain name, can I do it through Dynamic DNS? or do I still need another domain name because I also want to be able to get to oulook web access. For instance, if the server's name is "server" and the domain is "server.local", how would I set this up?

    Sorry for the dumb questions

I would appreicate some help on this!

    Thanks,

Hi there, you can use dynamic DNS if you like, as long as your dynamic DNS provider lets you setup MX records as well (I'm pretty sure most of them would).

For the rest of your questions, have you been through the boot camp lessons on those topics?
