Microsoft has announced the release of Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1.
This update contains a number of customer-reported and internally found issues since the release of RU1. See ‘KB 2509910: Description of Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1′ for more details. In particular we would like to specifically call out the following fixes which are included in this release:
- 2519359 Unable to Create a ‘Reply With’ Rule on Public Folders Even With Owner and Send As Permissions
- 2394554 Generating DSN fails if original mail uses non-support encoding charset.
- 2490134 Outlook 2007 does not deliver “Delayed Delivery” Messages against an Exchange 2010 Server in Online mode with any additional Transport loaded in the Outlook Profile
I also noted this fix that will be important for anyone planning a migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 in a very large environment where users are likely to be members of more than 200 security groups.
- 2491354 You cannot view the free/busy information of users in a mixed Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010 environment

Deploying Exchange Server 2010 Update Rollup 4
The standard order of deployment for Exchange Server updates applies.
- Client Access servers, starting with the internet-facing ones. See this article for how to patch a CAS array.
- Hub Transport and Edge Transport servers
- Mailbox servers. See this article for how to patch a Database Availability Group.
- Unified Messaging servers
When Microsoft released Update Rollup 3 it had to be withdrawn due to issues it caused for Blackberry customers. At around the same time an update rollup for Exchange 2007 also had to be withdrawn and re-released due to serious bugs. Those incidents shook the confidence of many Exchange customers and administrators so I expect there will be more caution applied for deployment of this latest update rollup.

Exchange Server 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 4:
I installed this update yesterday, and now uninstalling it from mailbox servers.
After installing the update, I cannot copy folder structures in Public Folders. When I copy a folder with subfolders, only the top folder is copied. Bad situation for us using Public folders with large subfolder structures. After uninstalling from mailbox servers I can do the copying again… So, not everything is OK with this rollup.
Interesting to hear that Jens. Have you had any contact with Microsoft about it? Would like to hear how that turns out for you.

No, have not contacted Microsoft yet.
Same problem occurs if I move a folder structure from a Public folder to a mailbox or to another piblic folder. The top folder and messages are moved, but all subfolders and content is not moved, just deleted…
Confuses users a lot…

Thanks for updating information on the issue. I have logged the case with Microsoft, but since the problem is with Outlook I guess they need to decide who will to solve it.
I rolled my Mailbox servers back to UR 3v3, and have the functionality back. Now I only miss some of the other things UR4 did solve, and which was why I rolled it out quite soon after release.

Back from a nice long vacation and can see that Microsoft removed the download mid July and released a version 2 of Update Rollup 4 on 23rd.
I shall install the new version tonight and test the functionality. Did you try the version 2 to verify that the copying/move problem is solved ?
I think I did but now I honestly can’t remember!
OK, I installed on my Denmark servers last night and it looks like it is working correctly. Will update my Asia servers later tonight.
